Symbiotic Dialogue March 31 Saturday Ð April 15 Sunday, 2001

Opening reception on March 31, Saturday, 7-10p.m.

Tara Fracalossi, Gandalf Gavan, Birgitta Lund, Yoko Motomiya

Symbiotic dialogue is a show of balance, where all the works have similar intersections. Where time, space, and placement play a major role. From that point each artist goes their own way.

Tara Fracalossi and Birgitta Lund both deal with photographic installations, concealing and distorting the images. Tara Fracalossi encases hundreds of images in archival paper so they will be safe for ever, but can barely be seen. Birgitta Lund suspends images printed on acetate in jars, pausing them in time, making it possible to see the full spectrum of distorted poetic moments.

The capacity to stretch, to engage, and to freeze time are present in Yoko Motomiya's and Gandalf Gavan's installations. As over a thousand hand blown spheres, sculpted by Gandalf Gavan, hang in front of the viewer, time seems to be in limbo. Yoko MotomiyaÕs silkscreen installation covers walls and floors, to immerse you into a warp between technological and organic pulses.

Yasuko Yokoshi (choreographer / dancer) will present her improvisation (30 min ) with Gandalf Gavan's work as part of the exhibition at opening night, 8:30pm, March 31.
