Statement for Lokis Swimming Lesson (laps #1-13) The swimmer swimming through transparent pictorial space printed on four millimeter vellum. Each component of the series is cut, built, and mounted on a plexi-glass support. The plexi-glass has built in transparency, clarity and buoyancy. It's in the material. Each component also has thirteen ellipses cut from grey-scale paper ranging from black to light grey in equal increments. The support ratio is three to one. Three as the dynamic number of change and propulsion through composition. Diagrams are cut and arranged horizontally. All thirteen elements can stack in a box to make one translucent drawing or each element can sink or swim on it's own. Thirteen strokes to cross the pool. Each drawing titled, "Lokis Swimming Lesson (laps #1-13)." |
